Ignoring the obscene 1.6% annual fee, they have a nice line of funds. But it's hard to ignore 1.6%, my rule is no MER over 1%, and really it should be well under 0.5% for North American securities.

Bill Bernstein in his book The Four Pillars of Investing (http://www.efficientfrontier.com) compliments DFA on their knowledge, skill and experience, but doubts that the extra fee's are worth it, as long as you can get along without an advisor. The book was amazing by the way, I'd take Bill's advice.
Other Currencies in My RRSP
Authored by: Kassman on Tuesday, April 19 2005 @ 03:02 PM EDT
Martin: It appears that in my self-directed RRSP I can only hold "Canadian dollars". I was told by RB Action Direct, and want to verify with you, that if I buy US ETF's, Action Direct will buy US$ on my behalf, and then when I sell the ETF's, they will sell the US$ on my behalf. In other words, I still end-up with Canadian currency and have paid currency conversion costs 2 times.

Is there anyway to hold other currencies inside a RRSP? Specifically, I would like to buy and grow Euros.

Thanks for your help.

Very interesting, although I believe you have forgotten one point. When you buy US ETF, as a non-us citizen, you have to pay US withholding taxes. So your RRSP is no longer tax deferred...
